Why did Facebook buy Instagram?

It appears that billionaire Mark Zuckerberger has made another giant leap in controlling the Internet social media. His quite recent acquisition of Instagram is a shining expensive accompaniment to his vastly popular Facebook. The originator and manager of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberger, has bought Instagram for one billion dollars in stock and cash. The deal was finalized on Monday, April 10, 2012 and is being reported on all of the Internet news sites along with his own explanation of why he would spend one billion dollars to acquire a photo shop web site.

3 ways to enjoy Instagram on iPad today

One of my most-used iPhone apps is Instagram – the photo sharing platform/community that gives users an entertaining and pleasurable way to post, customize and comment on images (check it out here in case you haven’t had the chance yet) so it was no surprise that having gotten my iPad, I was soon itching to use it on the iPad as well.  Since Instagram on iPad is not yet available – what are the alternatives around today?

Instagram

Instagram is a free photo sharing program launched in October 2010 that allows users to take a photo, apply a digital filter to it, and then share it on a variety of social networking services, including Instagram's own. A distinctive feature confines photos to a square shape, similar to Kodak Instamatic and Polaroid images, in contrast to the 4:3 aspect ratio typically used by mobile device cameras.

Instagram was initially supported on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch; in April 2012, the company added support for Android camera phones running 2.2 (Froyo) or higher. It is distributed via the iTunes App Store and Google Play.

On April 12, 2012, Facebook acquired the company (and its 13 employees) for approximately $1 billion in cash and stock, with plans to keep it independently managed.
