Cadillac launches CUE iPad app

As it prepares to roll out its CUE touch-screen instrument panel, Cadillac adds an iPad app and promises a new iPad for 2013 Cadillax XTS buyers.

NEW ORLEANS--After introducing its CUE touch-screen instrument panel at CTIA last October, Cadillac has returned to the 2012 wireless trade show with more services. 

When CUE is introduced in the 2013 Cadillac XTS next month, buyers will be able to test the system on a new iPad App. According to Cadillac, the app will replicate many of the system's features and make them available anywhere. 

XTS buyers in the United States will receive a new iPad loaded with not only the CUE app, but also the MyCadillac App and OnStar RemoteLink. And to help drivers get started, Cadillac dealers in the United States will assist with setting up CUE and using the remote tablet interface. 

The Linux-based CUE, which stands for Cadillac User Experience, runs on an ARM 11 3-core processor and supports multitouch gestures. In addition to stereo Bluetooth support and GPS navigation, CUE also features cruise control information, GPS navigation, OnStar services, weather maps with Doppler radar, stereo controls, Pandora and XM radio, two USB ports, and an SD card slot. And since the platform is open developers will be able to write applications.
